The chemo bandana is an iconic accessory that doesn’t carry any of the visual stigmas of illness. It ties easily around the head and instantly elevates your style.
You can wear it as a headband in a true “we can do it” style (we hope you caught the reference), or opt for a softer look by tying the knot at the back of your head. But that’s not all: thanks to its triangular shape, the Les Franjynes chemo bandana can also be worn like a kerchief for a more bohemian or retro-inspired look.
The chemo bandana is ideal at the start of treatment to camouflage the first signs of hair loss. If you lose your hair completely, you can still wear it over your wig. And when your hair begins to grow back, it becomes a perfect companion: it instantly adds style to a very short haircut.
There are several types of chemo bandanas: the classic square format, the pre-shaped triangular version, and the one that looks remarkably similar to a real headband.
Of course, the original bandana style features the iconic patterns we all know (just like the ones found in our Les Franjynes collection). Today, you can find endless fabrics and prints—enough to satisfy every taste and every personality!
As you can imagine, there are many bandanas on the market today, but not all of them are suitable for people undergoing chemotherapy.
During treatment, the skin—including the scalp—becomes more sensitive and reactive. This means that every material worn on your head must be selected with care and tailored to your skin’s needs.
Avoid slippery, irritating, or highly flammable fabrics. Instead, choose soft, comfortable materials that won’t slide off every two minutes.
At Les Franjynes, our chemo bandanas are made of 100% cotton to fully respect your scalp and surround it with comforting softness.
During chemotherapy, intense fatigue and side effects can make everyday life extremely challenging. This is why anything that touches your skin must help you feel comfortable and supported. We’ll say it again: gentleness and respect for your skin are key to navigating this chapter with greater peace of mind.
Les Franjynes bandanas offer these essential qualities thanks to their 100% cotton composition and adjustable sizing. Our chemo bandanas measure 52 cm wide and 78 cm diagonally. Their triangular cut makes them incredibly easy to position and tie on your head.
When you’re undergoing treatment, your entire reflection in the mirror can feel affected.
To continue caring for yourself and your self-image, the bandana is an ideal accessory. Far from being associated with illness, its timeless look (and let’s be honest, its *frangely* stylish vibe) immediately gives your outfit a more polished appearance.
It even helps draw attention away from what might be bothering you (facial redness, dark circles, or thinning hair), especially if you choose one of our punchy, playful colors.
The bandana can be worn in countless ways—so have fun with it! As mentioned earlier, you can wear it as a classic headband, pin-up style, or as a kerchief. But that’s not all! If you have long hair, you can tie it around a ponytail. For softer, romantic styles, weave it into a braid.
A chemo bandana may feel less essential during complete alopecia, but you can absolutely pair it with a wig. And if that’s not your thing, you can still show it off around your neck, as a bracelet, or even as a decorative accessory on your bag. In other words: it’s ready to go with you everywhere!
There are of course other head coverings that are just as suitable—if not even more suitable—for partial or total alopecia during chemotherapy.
There are headbands and hairbands, which fall in the same family as chemo bandanas. Headbands offer a more casual look, while hairbands can create a charming retro-chic effect.
If you prefer something more covering, you can choose beanies or turbonnets—very easy to put on and extremely comfortable. For those who enjoy more technical tying methods, explore silk squares and scarves. And don’t forget caps and hats, perfect for outings.
Les Franjynes chemo bandanas give your outfits a joyful, energetic vibe! Timeless and easy to wear, they’ll stay with you for many years… as long as you take good care of them.
Our bandanas should be machine washed on a gentle program at 30°C (86°F)—not higher! Then let them dry in the shade, far from direct heat.
During chemotherapy, it’s essential to choose scarves made of materials that respect the extreme sensitivity of your skin. If you want to tie them in various ways, choose large formats. Pre-shaped scarves and turbans are also excellent options to save time and simplify your daily styling.
At the start of treatment, when hair is just beginning to fall, wearing a bandana helps camouflage the first signs of loss. At the end of treatment, when hair is growing back, a chemo bandana is perfect for styling a very short haircut and drawing attention away from sensitive areas.
Bandanas are timeless accessories. Unlike certain beanies that clearly evoke illness, bandanas don’t carry that association—many people wear them purely for fashion. This makes them a discreet, stylish, everyday-friendly choice.
First, check the quality of the material: it must be soft, comfortable, non-slippery, and irritation-free.
The size should be large enough to adjust easily to your head. It shouldn’t feel too tight or cause uncomfortable pressure—definitely not *frangely* pleasant.
At night, your scalp needs to breathe and stay warm. We recommend choosing a simple thermoregulating and breathable sleep beanie to ensure unmatched comfort and peaceful sleep.
